After the stipulated time, Saudi Arabia will take punitive actions, including jail terms to crack down on foreigners working illegally in the world’s top oil exporter.
Fahd Al-Khelaiwi, Director General of the Labor Ministry’s office in Riyadh, made the disclosure while addressing a meeting of Riyadh Chambers of Commerce on Saturday.
Fahd Al-Khelaiwi said, “We will launch an investigation drive with full associations by Home Ministry at Private Institutions to skirt illegal immigrations at Saudi Arabia.”
He added: “Royal police and passport authority will help the ministry on the drive. The government office, company and educational institutions are not integrated into the drive.”
None is allowed to stay illegally in Saudi Arabia after July 3, he forewarned.
However, he kept silence on the matter of extending the deadline but expressed stern position of Saudi government on the issue.
Khelaiwi advised workers to carry legal evidences provided by the recruitment authorities.
However, King Abdullah-Bin-Abdul Aziz of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced three months as interim period for legalizing illegal immigrations. The interim period will end on July 3.
