PBCP called shutdown in protest against the cabinet approval of the draft of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Land Dispute Resolution Commission (Amendment) Act-2013. They also demanded abolition of the draft.

Khagrachari: PBCP district convener Abdul Majid made the hartal announcement through a press note on Saturday.
The press note reads: “Half of the hill people are Bangalee. But, the tension in the hilly area will rise if the ministry passes the Land Dispute Resolution Commission (Amendment) Act-2013.”
PBCP demanded to the authority to withdraw the draft act.
BANDARBAN: PBCP declared the shutdown in a press conference in Bandarban press club on Saturday.
Leaders, in the press conference, said AL government signed a black treaty with the Janasanghati Samity which has turned the Bengalese of the hill areas as second class citizens.
President of Bandarban PBCP read out the written statement. General Secretary M Abdul Qaium and deputy secretary M Abdur Rahim were present in the conference.
Rangamati: An all Bengali organization ‘Equal Rights Movement’ also called hartal on the same demand.
President of the organization Peyar Ahmed Khan said, “We will be deprived from the land rights if the government passes Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Land Dispute Resolution Commission (Amendment) Act-2013.”
We called the hartal for a quick withdrawal of the act, he added.
On May 27, cabinet approved the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Land Dispute Resolution Commission (Amendment) Act-2013 in principle.
