It’s ‘no’ to govt: Fakhrul

People expressed their no-confidence in the incumbent government through their ballots in Saturday’s city corporation elections, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said Sunday.
Referring to the overwhelming victory of the BNP-backed mayoral candidates in all the four cities, he said the people have spoken in favour of BNP’s demand of caretaker government for the next general elections.

Fakhrul was addressing a press conference at the BNP headquarters at Nayapaltan in the capital.
“People came out to cast their votes in favour of BNP-backed candidates braving intimidation from the opposition activists,” the BNP leader said.
“Through this result, the government will hopefully realise that there is no alternative to restoring the caretaker government system,” he insisted.
