The clash erupted around 6:00am as the law enforcers obstructed Chhatradal’s attempt of vandalizing and setting fire to several vehicles.
Police charged baton and opened fire to bring the situation under control.
Witnesses said some opposition men led-by district BNP office secretary Akhter Hossain Khokon Shah brought out a procession from the main gate of Khanpur Kumudini Welfare Trust, but police obstructed it and dispersed them.
Later, the BNP men threw brickbats towards police, forcing them to open fire to bring the situation under control, sources added.
On the other hand, some JCD activists led-by it two joint conveners Rashidur Rahman Rosso and Shahed Ahmed took out another pro-hartal procession around 6.00am in Killarpool area.
From the procession, pickets vandalized three vehicles.
Joint convener Shahed Ahmed told banglanews, “Rosso, Sabbir, Harun including me sustained injuries as police charged baton.”
Besides, another clash erupted in front of Medistar General Hospital while hartal supporters are setting fire to tyres.
District BNP office secretary Akhter Hossain Khokon Shah alleged that at least five people including Amin, Alamin were injured as police opened fire.
Officer-in-Charge of Narayanganj Sadar Thana Manjur Quader told banglanews, “Police obstructed the pickets to refrain them from vandalizing and setting fire to vehicles.”
