8hr hartal in Rangpur for Monday

Three front organisations of BNP have called an eight-hour long hartal (shutdown) in Rangpur division for Monday demanding withdrawal of “false cases” against their three leaders and their immediate release.
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Juba Dal, student and youth bodies of the main opposition BNP, and Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal, a front organisation of BNP, are the three organisation that have called the shutdown, reported our Rangpur correspondent.
The shutdown will continue from 6:00am to 2:00pm in all eight districts of the division.
Roich Ahmed, president of Rangpur district unit of Jubo Dal, and Jahir Alam Nayan, JCD
president of the district unit, made the announcement of the shutdown during a press conference at the local Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), office in the city.
Abdus Salam, president of Rangpur district unit of Swechchhasebak Dal, announced the hartal at a separate press conference at the same venue.
The opposition organisations also demanded release of all central leaders and withdrawal of “false cases” filed against them.
JCD announced the shutdown demanding withdrawal of “false cases” filed against its former president Habibunnabi Khan Sohel, also the president of Swechchhasebak Dal.
Swechchhasebak Dal will enforce the hartal over the same demand while Juba Dal called the strike demanding release of its President Moazzem Hossain Alal and former president Barkatullah Bulu.
Juba Dal leaders Bulu and Alal are now behind bars.
They were arrested earlier on charges of torching vehicles and assaulting police in the capital’s Nayapaltan in March.
Meanwhile, Habibunnabi went into hiding as an arrest warrant was issued against him.
