KSA allows iqama transfer for Bangladeshis

RIYADH: At last Iqama (work permit) transfer for Bangladeshi workers resumed in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) from Saturday.

Saudi government confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Embassy to Saudi Arab saying that it has decided to allow Bangladeshi workers to transfer their residence or work permit.

The Saudi government took necessary steps to facilitate iqama (work permit) transfer of Bangladeshi workers after a long term halt after recent visit of Foreign Minister Dipu Moni.

A reliable source said that Bangladeshi expatriates in Saudi Arab can change their occupation and transfer Iqama from Saturday.

And those, who have been living illegally there, are declared general amnesty. The grace period that will allow workers to rectify their employment status in the Kingdom will remain for two-month.

After the decision of Saudi Government, a cheerful environment is taking place there among lakhs of Bangladeshis.

Since 2009, officials say manpower export to Saudi Arabia almost stopped as it restricted issue of Iqama transfer – residence permit or work permit transfer for Bangladeshi nationals.
