The mancha which was formed immediately after an international crimes tribunal handed down life term imprisonment to Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Mollah on February 5.
Thousands of youths imbued with the spirit of ’71 have demanded capital punishment for the war criminals from the mancha since February 5.
“A contingent of nearly 100 policemen torn down the main stage, media cell and other camps and tents in Shahbagh, popularly known as Projonmo Chattar,” said our correspondent on Monday.
The law enforcers however could not show any reason for the deeds, he reported.
The protest which started on the first week of February, made a popular public harmony and galvanised tens of thousands of people into putting up unprecedented show of support, with Mancha.
Eventually, the demonstration for the death penalty of the war criminals spread to districts, divisions and abroad.
