7 more bodies recovered from Bay at Teknaf

COX’S BAZAAR: Police recovered a total of 31 bodies from various points of Teknaf upazila of the district with the recovery of seven more bodies till 11am Friday.
Cox’s Bazaar Administration source confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Additional Police Super Babul Akhter said 24 bodies were recovered on Thursday while seven more bodies on Friday morning.

Most of the bodies were children, said police.

 “The Burmese kyat was found from the pockets of some dead bodies and it appears that they might be citizens of Myanmar,” he added.

Recently boat capsized in the Bay with over 200 Myanmar citizens during Cyclone Mahasen. “The bodies might have been a portion of them,” he said.

Cox’s Bazaar Deputy Commissioner Ruhul Amin went to Teknaf to visit the spots.

The matter of the body recovery was informed to foreign ministry and they are discussing with Myanmar government regarding the hand over of the bodies, the DC told banglanews.

If they refuse to receive those bodies, those will be buried in Bangladesh territory as unidentified, he added.
