Jubo Dal boss Alal on 4-day remand

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday granted four-day remand to Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal President Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal in an arson and attempt to murder case filed with Motijheel Thana for police interrogation.

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Magistrate Hasibul Haque passed the order when police produced him before the court with 10-day remand plea.

The defense lawyers led by Advocate Sanaullah Miah and Masud Ahmed Talukder argued before the court that the government lodged the case against their client for a political motive to harass him.

The prosecution side led by Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Abdullah Abu told the court that the pickets of 18-party alliance set fire to vehicles according to his plan during the hartal of March 17.

The court after hearing both the sides, granted the four-day police remand.

Detective Branch of police and Motijheel Thana police arrested him last night while he was returning to his residence after being released on bail from Kashimpur Central Jail.
