The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 led-by Obaidul Hasan passed the verdict on Wednesday.
The tribunal started reading out summary of the 209-page verdict at 11:02am in presence of Mujaheed.
Justice Shahinur Islam read out first part of the 658-paragraph verdict while Justice Mujibur Rahman Mia read out the second part and Justice Obaidul Hasan the third part.
While reading out the verdict, tribunal chairman Obaidul Hasan informed the court that five out of all seven allegations brought against Mujaheed were proved beyond doubt. Two and four numbers of allegations were not proved.
The tribunal sentenced him to death in six and seven numbers of charges while life-term imprisonment for one and five-number charges. Besides, he has been jailed for five years in the three-number charge.
The charges are as follows:
1. Abetting, facilitating and contributing to the abduction and murder of eminent journalist Serajuddin Hossain.
2. Abetting, facilitating and contributing to genocide in Hindu dominated Baidyadangi, Majhidangi and Baladangi areas of Faridpur.
3. Abetting and facilitating the confinement and torture of Hindu civilian Ranjit Kumar Nath in Faridpur.
4. Abetting and facilitating the confinement and torture of Abu Yusuf Pakhi in Faridpur.
5. Participating in, abetting and facilitating the murder of eminent musician Altab Mahmud; Rumi, son of Shaheed Janani Jahanara Imam; and two other freedom fighters.
6. Abetting and facilitating killing of intellectuals during the Liberation War.
7. And participating in and facilitating the murder of nine Hindu civilians in Faridpur.
