Jamaat observed the hartal amid scattered vandalism, arson and cocktails blasts across the country.
In Kushtia, few Chhatra Shibir activists were beaten severely suspecting as robbers while they were cutting trees to barricade road ahead of hartal, leaving three injured critically.
Two of the injured succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital and one other was admitted to Kushtia Medical College Hospital.
In Satkhira, Jamaat-Shibir activists beat and chopped an activist of Awami League to death during hartal hour in Debohata Upazila of Satkhira on Monday morning.
In Chapainawabganj, an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami was killed in a clash between Jammat-Shibir activists and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)-police in Rasulpur area at Shibganj upazila of the district on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Nurul Islam.
Sources said at least 10 people, including Upazila Nirbahi Officer, wounded during the clash.
In Dhaka, two police personnel were injured as Shibir activists hurled cocktails towards them in the Bansherpul area of Demra Thana at early hours of Monday’s hartal.
Hartal supporters exploded few cocktails in capital’s Jurain, Rayerbagh and Shonirakha area during hartal hours.
From a brisk procession Jamaat-Shibir activists vandalized three buses at the early hours of the shutdown in Badda bus stand area.
The hartal supporters threw brickbats to police when they tried to disperse the Shibir activists. Later, police charged baton to disperse the supporters.
Besides, another group of hartal-supporters torched two human haulers on Shah Ali Road of Mirpur after a brisk procession and meeting.
The hartal supporters threatened to create severe unrest around the country if the former amir of Jamaat-e-Islam Ghulam Azam is hanged.
In Barisal, Pickets have vandalized and torched four auto-rickshaws in Barisal.
Sources said police opened fire four rounds of rubber bullets as 20-25 activists, led by metropolitan Shibir president Al Nahian, tried to block C & B road.
During the time police arrested four pickets.
Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Model Thana Sakhawat Hossain confirmed the arrest of four pickets.
In Comilla, Jamaat-Shibir activists exploded some 20 cocktails in Jangalia in the metropolitan city during countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal in the day.
Police detained six Jamaat-Shibir activists from Debidwar Upazila.
In Bogra, Jamaat-Shibir activists vandalized 50 vehicles by blocking Bogra-Rangpur road in various places of Shahjahanpur upazila and blasted three cocktails.
During the time police and hartal supporters locked into a clash. Police opened fire to disperse them and arrested two persons from the spot.
Officer-in-Charge Mahmudul Alam of Shahjahanpur Thana told banglanews, “Police is ready to thwart any untoward situation.”
In Chapainawabganj, Jamaat-Shibir activists hurled a few cocktails when law enforcers tried to disperse them while blocking the road in Lalapara under the sadar upazila.
Sources said during the time police opened fire to take the situation under control.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel and police fired 30 rounds to disperse another procession brought by Shibir from Nimtala area of the city.
No one was injured and arrested in this connection.
Sonamasjid land-port is open though no bus left for any areas of the country.
In Chittagong, Jamaat-Shibir enforced hartal is being observed in Chittagong amid stray events of cocktail blasts, blazing vehicles and road-blocking.
A fruit vendor lost one of his legs in a cocktail blast in Boropol area of Agrabad in the city.
Besides Jamaat picketers have blazed an autorickshaw in the Akbar Shah area of the city.
Assistant Commissioner of Doublemuring jone of the city Ukhya Singh confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Besides, Officer-in-Charge of Sitakundu Thana Samiul Alam told banglanews police have fired at least 100 rounds of bullets in clashes with hartal supporters in five different places of the upazila.
Jamaat called the hartal on Sunday as International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 fixed the same day for pronouncing verdict against Ghulam Azam for war crimes.
Earlier in the day, ICT-1 led by Justice ATM Fazle Kabir fixed Monday for pronouncing verdict against Ghulam Azam on the day.
