The decision came from a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the Islamic Foundation in the evening after reviewing reports on moon sighting for the holy month of Ramadan.
State Minister for Religion Shahjahan Mia presided over the meeting.
The Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and an occasion when Muslims across the world fast during the hours of daylight.
Besides, the fasting month of Ramadan is set to begin in Middle East countries on Wednesday as nobody sighted the new crescent on Monday.
The Royal Court said, in an official statement, “Tomorrow, July 9 will be the 30th day of Shaaban and the holy month of Ramadan begins on July 10.”
The Royal Court announcement was based on a decision taken by the Supreme Court after meeting in Taif Monday.
