‘EU Accord’ to introduce UCC in RMG sector

DHAKA: ‘EU Accord,’ a European Union based garment buyers group would form ‘Unified Code of Conduct (UCC)’ for Bangladeshi garment workers for their better working environment in this sector.

The decision came from a meeting between Bangladesh Garment Manufactures and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and ‘EU Accord’ on Tuesday.

BGMEA President M Atiqul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The framework of fire and building safety agreement of European Union would be finalized on the basis of decision of the meeting, he added.

Six members of ‘EU Accord’ delegation, former president BGMEA Salam Morshedy and Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin were among others present at the meeting.
