"I am desperate to be home for Eid," he said.
During this festive rush, if tickets are not booked in advance, there is every possibility of missing out on going home.
“Eid
cannot be properly celebrated unless you are with your family. No
matter what comes, during Eid, I will have to be at home,” said Imran,
explaining his desperation to get his bus tickets.
Rifat Raihan, a
student of Dhaka College too is in the long queue for an advance
tickets. He wants to be at home in Panchagar on August 4, barely a week
before the Eid.
“I’ve to be with my parents. I have come here for
an advance ticket so early in the morning because unless you book it
well in advance, there is lot of trouble in getting a ticket or a proper
 seat,” he said.
For thousands who have migrated from their native
places to the capital for better opportunities, it’s time to rush back
home to be with near and dear ones to share the festivity.
The
rush is huge and reminds many of their roots in villages or small towns.
The ties of a larger extended family are also felt then.
They
have been standing in long queues for hours as the long-route bus
counters started issuing advance tickets from 10am Friday, ahead of the
Eid.
The persons manning the counters were having a tough time to manage the swelling crowds on a weekend holiday.
‘Bappi’,
a counter manager of Dorshona Deluxe in Mirpur Mazar Road, said a large
crowd had gathered since the selling of advance tickets started in the
morning.

Many were seen bee-lining to buy home-bound tickets in front of the main
booking office of Hanif Enterprise in the College Gate area.Counter Manager Mohamamd Rony said the advance tickets would be sold from 10am to 5pm Friday.
“The
crowd is abnormally huge as it is the very first day of the advanced
sell. After a day or two, the rush may not be as intense,” he added.
Fahmida, an employee of Shohag Paribahan, said the crowd pressure was huge at Malibagh too.
At
Shyamioli’s Babul Paribahan, Kalyanpur’s SR Travels, TR Travels, Asad
gate’s Shyamoli Paribahan, Eagal Paribahan, Rozina Paribahan and Pabna
Express the situation was no different.
