Shahriar Kabir escapes Hefajat attacks

DHAKA: Some 25 people, including cops, were injured in an attack launched by Hefajat-e-Islam men on Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee Executive President Shahriar Kabir during a pro-hartal rally on Saturday morning.

Shahriar Kabir, however, was not injured.

A pro-hartal rally is being staged at Amtoli in city’s Mohakhali area around 10:00am and some Hefazt men were going to join Motijheel rally on foot through the area, said a spot account.

Regarding the attack, Shahriar Kabir said, “Jamaat-Shibir and Hefazat men launched a pre-planned attack targeting me. They also threatened me over cell phone on Friday.”

“In morning, the attackers pelted brick bats targeting me,” he added.
