At least 50 others including some policemen were injured during the clashes, which erupted at 11am.
Awami
League supporters were involved in clashes with more than 1,000
Hifazat-e Islami supporters who had taken shelter at a madrasa in
Madaninagar.
Meanwhile, activists of the radical party and fronts
of the ruling Awami League had clashed in Narayanganj. At least five
people were injured there, police said.Bhanga Upazila’s health official Dr Imran said that
Nowsher died of the critical head wounds he sustained during the
clash.
He hails from Kanda village of Nasirabad union in Bhanga Upazila.
Khan was Awami League chairman of the Second Ward of Nasirabad
Union.
Imran said one policeman was among those injured.
During
the clash, the Bhanga municipal office and the residence of Rahat Beg, local
representative of ‘Amar Desh’ were also attacked.

OC Dadan Fakir told bdnews24.com that the situation was now under
control.
Five Hifazat-e Islam activists were injured in an attack by
Awami League supporters at Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj district.
The
injured have been shifted to the Upazila’s health complex for treatment. Some
were shifted to other hospitals as well.
The supporters of the radical
group were attacked in front of the Bhulta Police Station around
9.30am.
The Hifazat supporters had gathered at Bhulta after having
arrived from Bhairab, Brahmanbaria, Narsingdi and Madhabdi, when they were
attacked by activists of the youth and student affiliates of Awami
League.
Police and eye-witnesses said that the two groups fought pitched
battles for a while. The identity of those injured is awaited.
