1,000 Jamaat-Shibir men sued

Police have filed a case against 1,000 Jamaat-e-Islami and its student body, Islami Chhatra Shibir, men for attacking police and obstructing them from discharging duties in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur.
Jamaat-Shibir men, in a pre-planned attack, pounced on a policeman and thrashed his head with bricks in Chirirbandar of Dinajpur during a countrywide daylong shutdown on Tuesday.

Abdus Sabur, a district intelligence officer of the special branch of police, has been undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Md Harisul Islam, inspector (Investigation) of Chirirbandar Police Station, filed the case with the police station Tuesday night against the activists naming 66 people.
Atab Uddin Mollah, former ameer of district Jamaat and also upazila chairman of Chirirbandar, is among the accused, reported our Dinajpur correspondent.
Mollah is also accused in a case filed for attacking on Hindu minority at Bolea bazaar in the upazila on August 4 last year.
So far, three people have been arrested in connection with the case, said, Md Tariqul Islam, officer-in-charge of the police station.
At least 14 policemen were also injured during the 25-minute long clash.
