Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, adviser to the JP chief, confirmed it.
“Two personal staff of the party president handed over the letter to the personal staff Tuesday night,” Bablu, also a JP presidium member, told The Daily Star.
Urging the PM “to forget the bitter past” and to find out a way out from the rising crisis the country is facing, Ershad expressed concern about the negative impacts of the prevailing political volatility on education, economy and other sectors.
Bangladesh is suffering from its “worst political hours since the Liberation War of 1971”, he said.
He urged both the leaders to commence a step towards dialogue for the sake of the nation.
The JP chief expressed his firm belief that the PM can take appropriate initiative to start a successful dialogue between the major political parties. He advised the PM to call the country’s frontline intellectuals for dialogue.
Addressing Hasina, the JP said: “I am requesting you for not only being the prime minister of the country but also the daughter of Father of the nation.”
Ershad requested Khaleda to be the first one to take initiative towards the dialogue.
Those who won’t respond positively to dialogue call would be “detached from the nation”, he said.
