Metropolitan Magistrate Tarek Mainul Islam Bhuiyan passed the order after Mainul Islam, inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of police, produced Asif before him with a 7-day remand.
During the day’s proceedings, advocate Alauddin, counsel for Asif, filed a bail petition for his clients. But the court did not entertain his prayer.
Earlier on April 4, another Dhaka court placed Asif on a three-day remand in connection with the same case.
Detectives on April 3 arrested Mohiuddin, who had been attacked by Islamist fanatics in January, following his alleged postings on the Internet “defaming Islam and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)”.
