Dhaka: Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Thursday said the
communications ministry was on the way of shaking reproach it previously
gained off.
“We
are not claiming that we have been able to get rid of all the anomalies
of the ministry. The ministry, however, is on the way of getting out of
notorieties that it previously gained and we have already made much
progress in that regard,” said Quader.
This came as he was speaking with journalists following a meeting at the secretariat Thursday.
“I don’t dig deep into the past. Rather, I take lessons from the past,” said the minister.
“It is not right to label someone as corrupt before allegations against
him are proven. If charges are proven, one needs to accept that.
Moreover, it is not the government’s duty to prove one’s involvement in
corruption. It is actually the duty of Anti-Corruption Commission,” the
minister added.
