The International Crimes Tribunal-2, led by Justice A T M Fazle Kabir, set the date on Thursday following the introductory speech by the prosecution. In the 29-page speech, the tribunal's chief prosecutor Ghulam Arieff Tipoo, prosecutors Mokhlesur Rahman Badal and Mir Iqbal Hossain read out the charges.
The tribunal was to start listening to witness depositions on Thursday, but shifted the date to Aug 26 after defence lawyer Munshi Ahsan Kabir urged for more time.
On June 21, the tribunal ordered start of Mujaheed's trial and set July 19 for listening to witnesses.
The Jamaat leader has been charged with seven incidents of murder, mass killings, rape, arson, loot and forcing people to leave the country.
Mujaheed's indictment hearing began on Mar 11 this year and ended on Jun 5.
The current Jamaat No 2 was shown arrested in a case involving crimes against humanity in June 2010. The tribunal took cognisance of charges brought against him on Jan 26 this year.
He is accused of crimes against humanity mostly in Faridpur district. He is also said to have been instrumental in murdering intellectuals towards the end of the War.
