Stuart Law resigns

Dhaka, Apr 16 Stuart Law has resigned as Bangladesh coach, citing family problems, after only nine months in the job.

Bangladesh Cricket Board's media assistant Mostafizur Rahman said Law tendered his resignation to acting CEO of BCB Nizam Uddin Chowdhury Monday morning after returning from England.

The Australian coach, who took charge for two years on June 27 last year, will talk about his resignation at a news conference at the BCB office.

He said Monday that he was resigning as his family was settling in Australia from United Kingdom, and his resignation will be effective from June 30.

Law, who will move back to Australia, replaced fellow Australian Jamie Siddons, who departed after failing to get Bangladesh past the group stage of the World Cup.

His decision to quit comes a day after Bangladesh's tour of Pakistan later this month was confirmed in the meeting of International Cricket Council's executive committee and less than a month after Bangladesh reached the final of the Asia Cup, widely seen as one of their finest achievements.

The initial results of his coaching were disappointing - including losses to Zimbabwe – but the home season ended with Bangladesh upsetting India and Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup and giving eventual champions Pakistan a run for the money twice, losing the final by just two runs.
