National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa), a US-based space research institute, will conduct a study on the weather and climate change of Bangladesh.
“Nasa will conduct the research under its South and Southeast Composition, Cloud, Climate Coupling Regional Study Programme,” chief scientist of Nasa Earth Science Division Hal Maring said at a meeting with Environment and Forests Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Thursday.
Hal Maring said some 250 scientists will take part in the study through Nasa’s biggest aircraft in next August-September. “The findings of the research will help Bangladesh forecast weather warning and conduct further research in agriculture.”
Dr Hasan Mahmud said the research will help the region exchange weather and climate related information.
He thanked the USA and Nasa for taking such research initiative in the region.
