She raised the demand at a rally of her party’s volunteer wing – the
Jatiyatabadi Swecchasebok Dal – at Suhrawardy Uddyan on Monday.
“There is still time, introduce and pass the Bill to return the caretaker and make preparations to stage a neutral election.”
The Leader of the Opposition claimed 90 percent of the country’s population want polls under caretaker government.
“You
claim to have made a lot of progress. So why do you fear an election
which ensures equal benefits for all?” asked Khaleda in response to her
arch nemesis Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who said she will not move
from the Constitution by a hair's breadth.
“Your hair will be
blown off once you step into the wind. Our movement will mess it up and
you will be scared out of your wits. In the end you will not only lose
all your hair, but will have to worry for your very existence,”
People lost all their faiths in the current Awami League-led government, Khaleda further claimed.
“The
people don’t believe that Awami League made any progress.” The
opposition chief said the government’s claims of making developments had
no actual basis.
“The Awami League was never truthful. They have been bluffing and confusing people.”
“The Awami League’s nature is looting, killing, abducting and forceful retention of power.”
Khaleda
further claimed that Hasina’’s party could not implement any of the
promises they made to the people before they were elected.
“What a state Bangladesh is in today! They said many a beautiful things but implemented none.”
