Fakhrul says, New commander won’t evade AL defeat

DHAKA: Opposition BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday said Sajeeb Wazed Joy, as Awami League’s new commander, would not help out them evading the collapse.
“Awami League brought new commander to shun the upcoming collapse in next general polls as they defeated in recent city polls but it’s quite impractical as the newly brought man has no relations with country and people,” he said.

The spokesperson for the party came up with the disclosure while addressing a meeting titled ‘Unlawful remand of Amar Desh editor Mahmudur Rahaman and Citizen Rights’ organized by Nagarik Adhiker Mancha at the National Press Club.

Mirza Fakhrul also observed: “The political circumstances in Bangladesh are deteriorating day by day as incumbent government is on intensified authoritarian rule throughout the country.”

The people from all walks of life with BNP have to come forward unitedly to face the government’s misdeed, he added.

The BNP leader firmly criticized the remand granted by court against Amar Desh Editor Mahmudur Rahman and termed it as unlawful.

Barrister Rafique-ul Haque, Filmmaker Chashi Nazrul Islam also attended the meeting with Farhad Mazhar, the convener of ‘Nagarik Adhiker Mancha,’ in the chair.
