Adilur on 5-day remand

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Sunday placed Adilur Rahman Khan, secretary of human rights organization Odhikar, on a five-day remand for police interrogation.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Amit Kumar Dey passed the order when police produced him before the court with 10-day remand plea.

The court also gave permission to police to raid the office and residence of Adilur Rahman.

DB police Inspector Ashraful Islam, also the Investigation Officer of the case, produced Adilur before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court around 1:30pm.

On Saturday night, a cyber crime team of Detective Branch of Police of DMP held the former attorney General from his Gulshan residence for his alleged involvement in violation of Information and Communications Technology or ICT act.

Later, he was taken to DB Headquarters at Minto Road in the city for interrogation.

DB sources said he misused his e-mail and facebook ID against the country.

Adilur’s wife denied the allegations against him and said police arrested her husband without arrest warrant.
