The congressman came up with the assertion in a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office in the city.
Press Secretary to the premier Abul Kalam Azad made the disclosure while talking to journalist after the meeting.
He told journalists that the premier hoped that the good actions would reinstate GSP facilities by the US Trade Registrar (USTR) by December this year.
Expressing hope, Levin said RMG sector of Bangladesh would see further development with united efforts from all stakeholders, including the buyers and retailers.
Levin said, “The buyers and retailers have to play their due role towards development of this sector and there is a need for united efforts of all to this end.”
The Prime Minister highlighted various steps taken by the government for the welfare of the country`s people particularly the large-scale social safety net programmes for poor.
Regarding the tragic ‘Rana Plaza’ building collapse incident and loss of lives, Sheikh Hasina said soon after the incident, her government took all possible steps at quickest time to ensure smooth rescue operation as well as treatment of the injured people.
Ambassador-at-Large M Ziauddin, PM’s Media Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, PMO Secretary Molla Waheeduzzaman and US ambassador to Bangladesh Dan W Mozena were among others present on the occasion.
