Scarlett engaged to French boyfriend

DHAKA: Scarlett Johansson is engaged to her French boyfriend Romain Dauriac, two and a half years after splitting from first husband Ryan Reynolds.
A publicist for the ‘Avengers’ star said, reports daily Hurriyet.
Following media reports, spokesman Marcel Pariseau told media, ‘I can confirm that Scarlett and Romain are engaged. They haven`t chosen a date for the wedding’.

He did not elaborate.

Dauriac, described as a French journalist, proposed to the 28-year-old a month ago, according to ‘People’ magazine, which cited a source as saying, ‘They’re engaged and very happy’.

Earlier this week the actress was spotted wearing a vintage Art Deco style diamond engagement ring while promoting her latest sci-fi film ‘Under the Skin’ at the Venice Film Festival in Italy, the Hollywood celebrity bible noted.

Johansson has been nominated four times for Golden Globes, including for her breakout turn in ‘Lost in Translation’ with Bill Murray in 2004 as well as in ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’ the same year.

In 2005 she was shortlisted for ‘A Love Song for Bobby Long’, followed by a nod for her role in Woody Allen’s ‘Match Point’ in 2006.

More recently she played ‘Black Widow’ in 2012’s record-breaking blockbuster ‘The Avengers’, a role she is set to reprise in a sequel set for release in 2015.

She married Canadian actor Reynolds in 2008 but the couple announced their separation in 2010 and divorced the following year.

Bishwajit killer Shakil remanded

A Dhaka court on Sunday placed Rafiqul Islam Shakil, the key accused of Bishwajit Das killing case, on an eight-day remand. Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Erfan Ullah passed the order after Tajul Islam, an inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of Police, produced Shakil before it seeking a 10-day remand. In the forwarding report, Tajul Islam, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, said Shakil is the prime accused in the case. They identified Shakil from photos and video footages of the murder scene where Shakil hacked Bishwajit with a machete on December 9 in Sutrapur of Old Dhaka. So, the accused need to be remanded to find out vital clues about the killing and the whereabouts of their other accomplices responsible for committing such offence, the IO said. 78.67pc pass HSC exam

Dhaka, Jul 18 This year 78.67 percent has passed the Higher Secondary Certificate and equivalent examinations and 61,162 got GPA-5. The Education Minister Nurul Islam has submitted a copy of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganabhaban Wednesday morning. Chairmen of different education boards were present there. Last year, 75.08 percent passed the HSC and equivalent examinations and 39,759 got GPA-5. This year Sylhet board has the highest passing rate of 85.37 percent. Dhaka board follows with 81.89 percent, Comilla with 74.56, Rajshahi 78.44 percent, Dinajpur 75.41 percent, Chittagong 72.29 percent, Jessore 67.87 percent and Barisal with 66.98 percent. The pass rate under the Madrasah board is 91.77 percent while the vocational board has 84.32 percent successful students.
