Law Minister says Constitution not to be amended
The law minister came up with the assertion while talking to journalists after national council of Bangladesh Shanti Parishad-2013 at the National Museum in the city.
Barrister Shafique said, “There is no need to make any amendment to the constitution for the polls-time government. Any step is being taken in this regard.”
Mentioning that the election commission is a constitutional institution, he said, “The interim government will run daily activities of the administration and the commission will conduct the elections.”
The interim government would not be entitled to any decision-making powers, he added.
Bangladesh Shanti Parishad President Mozaffor Hossain Paltu presided over the function.
Awami League Advisory Council Member Suranjit Sengupta, Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Bangladesh Communist Party President Mujahidul Islam Selim and Bangladesh Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon were among others present in the programme.
