At a press conference on Saturday at his residence, Nahid requested
security forces for beefing up security at the polling stations.
Almost
100 voting centres across the country, mostly schools, have been come
under attack since Friday night by Opposition activists out to thwart
the polls on Sunday.
"The Opposition has created such a situation
in pursuit of their movement that students, parents, even animals are
not safe," said Nahid.
The educational institutions are not functioning for the last three month, he said.
"Why are they (Opposition) setting fire to educational institutions?" he asked.
He
said that the education activities will be severely affected if the
people do not prevent such attacks on schools in their localities.
"Protect
the schools at all cost. Law keepers, teachers and students, members of
the school committees, everyone should unite and take immediate steps."
He also asked to the government take stern measures against those responsible for the acts of arson.
"They
(opposition) want to take revenge for losing the Liberation War by
torching schools in an attempt to ruin the future generation," said the
education minister.
