ATTACK ON ASADUZZAMAN NOOR Another accused found dead

This file photo shows wreckage of 39 burnt motorbikes of the activists of Awami League and its front organisations, bearing testimony to the extent of barbaric attack on a December 14 march led by AL lawmaker Asaduzzaman Noor near Ramganj, eight km off Nilphamari town, is kept on the premises of Nilphamari Sadar Police Station.

A third accused in a case filed for attacking the motorcade of ruling Awami League lawmaker Asaduzzaman Noor in December last year has been learnt to have been killed.
The body of Mohidul Islam, 26, son of Munshi Anwar Hossain in Sadar upazila of Nilphamari, was found lying beside a road in Mokamtola of Bogra on February 1.

His relatives identified the body Tuesday from a photograph.
Mohidul was a master's final year student of Persian Department in Rajshahi University and an activist of Islami-Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, sub-inspector (SI) Mostafizur Rahman of Nilphamari Sadar Police Station who is investigating the case, told The Daily Star yesterday.
His body bore several injury marks, he added.
Mohidul was No. 9 accused of the December 14 attack that killed five people and injured 100 others, including police, said Mostafizur.
Jamaat-Shibir activists attacked the convoy of Noor, now the cultural affairs minister, while he was returning to Nilphamari town visiting Laxmichap, Sheeshatoli and Palash Bari villages where Jamaat men two days ago had torched some 80 shops and warehouses of Hindus and AL activists protesting war criminal Abdul Quader Mollah's execution.
Police on the very night lodged a case in connection with the attack against 15 named and 1,000 unnamed people.
On Tuesday morning, Bogra police sent a photo to their Nilphamari Sadar colleagues that they found a body on February 1 at Mokamtola area in Shibganj and had handed it over to Anjuman Mofidul Islam for burial.
When police showed the photo in Tupamari union, some locals identified the deceased as Mohidul and took police to their house at Sukhdhan village.
Police learnt that Mohidul, along with his cousin Atiqur Rahman Atiq, 30, the second dead accused in the case, had taken shelter at a relative's house in Tangail hours after attack on Noor's convoy.
Atiq's mother Amena Khatun said she heard on January 14 that some people, identifying themselves as members of Detective Branch of police, picked both Mohidul and Atiq on a vehicle and went away.
Later on January 20, Atiq's body was found at Syedpur bypass on Rangpur-Dinajpur highway in Nilphamari but Mohidul remained traceless.
Earlier on January 18, Golam Rabbani, 35, the prime accused in the case, was found in a ditch at Arazi Itakhola village in Nilphamari Sadar upazila.
