BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed and the party chairperson's adviser Khandaker Mahbub Hossain were denied bail by a Dhaka court today in two cases.
Judge Md Zahirul Haque of the Senior Special Judge's Court rejected the bail prayers of Moudud and Mahbub after their lawyers submitted two separate petitions before the court challenging a lower court's bail rejection orders.
The case against Moudud was filed for grabbing abandoned government property at Gulshan in the capital filed by Anti-Corruption Commission.

The Anti-Corruption Commission on December 17 last year lodged the case against Moudud and his brother Manjur Ahmed on charge of grabbing an abandoned public land worth over Tk 300 crore.
Harunur Rashid, deputy director (DD) of the ACC, filed the case with Gulshan Police Station stating that Moudud and his brother grabbed the land — stretching over around one bigha and 13 katha — at Gulshan between 1978 and 2006.
On the other hand, Mahbub was shown arrested on January 22 in an attempted murder case.
The charges of the case include attempted murder of police by throwing cocktails, vandalising vehicles and preventing law enforcers from discharging duties in the capital's Shantinagar and Malibagh areas during a demonstration.
The case was filed against 28 BNP leaders including the party's acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on March 2 last year.
Earlier on January 7, detectives picked up Mahbub when he came out of the Jatiya Press Club after attending a programme where he criticised the January 5 election boycotted by the BNP-led opposition alliance.
