2 Star journos among 6 awarded for reports on violent extremism

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today awarded two journalists of The Daily Star for best reporting on violent extremism in the country.

A total of six journalists were awarded for their reports in three categories at a function held at DMP Media Centre in Dhaka this noon. The programme was organised by the CTTC unit.
The awardees are Shariful Islam, head of crime desk at The Daily Star; Md Jamil Khan, staff correspondent of The Daily Star; Sheikh Sabiha Alam, senior correspondent of daily Prothom Alo; Khan Muhammad Rumel, senior reporter of Somoy TV; Shamima Sultana Labu, staff correspondent of Channel 24; and Nuruzzaman Labu, senior reporter of online news portal Bangla Tribune.
Among them, Shariful Islam, Md Jamil Khan, and Sheikh Sabiha Alam were awarded in Print category, Khan Mohammad Rumel and Shamima Sultana Labu in TV category, and Nuruzzaman Labu in Online category.
The winners were awarded crests, certificates and prize money.
CTTC Chief Monirul Islam and three members of the jury board handed over the awards to the winners at the programme.
